LIFE – the Environment and Climate Protection Programme

The aim of the programme is to contribute to the development of a low-emission, resource-efficient, climate-resilient and climate-smart economy, and to contribute to the protection and improvement of the environment, nature and biodiversity. The new programming period 2021-2027 is divided into two areas and four sub-programmes:

1) the "Environment" area, which includes:

the "Nature and Biodiversity" sub-programme;
the "Circular Economy and Quality of Life" sub-programme;

2) the "Climate Action" area, which includes:

the "Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation" sub-programme;
the "Clean Energy Transition" sub-programme.

The LIFE programme also serves to support and develop environmental legislation in the European Union, with an emphasis on sustainability/replication and the application of results so that they have a European impact.

The contact point in the Czech Republic is the Ministry of the Environment.
