Agencies Czech Science Foundation

The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) established in 1993 is a state institution supporting basic research across all scientific disciplines, funded exclusively from public resources. Each year, GA ČR provides financial support for scientific projects for both experienced and early-career researchers and teams based on the results of a public competition within announced programs. It also finances, supports, and expands international scientific cooperation in basic research.

Its activities are governed by Act No. 130/2002 Coll., on the Support of Research and Development from Public Funds and on the Amendment to Some Related Acts (the Act on the Support of Research and Development).

Types of Grant Projects:

GA ČR provides targeted funding for the following categories of grant projects:

  • Standard Projects
  • JUNIOR STAR
  • International – LA
  • International – Bilateral
  • POSTDOC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP – INCOMING
  • POSTDOC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP – OUTGOING
  • Excellence Grant Projects in Basic Research (EXPRO)

Calls for Proposals: announced once a year, usually in February; international cooperation projects are announced irregularly throughout the year
