UWB Incentive System – RIV

Works without request from the author.

The RIV part of the Incentive System supports the achievement of prestigious results in research, development, and innovation.

A prestigious result can be considered to be the result of research and development which, as of the date of processing of the award announcement, is published as a scientific article in a journal whose ISSN or e-ISSN is registered in the Journal Citation Report (hereinafter referred to as JCR) database of Clarivate (formerly Thomson Reuters), which uses data from the Web of Science Core Collection, whose publisher is not MDPI, and the journal has a determinable AIS in the given field. According to this AIS, it is possible to determine the field ranking of the journal according to the latest published status of the JCR database.

The quartile is determined according to the year of submission:

  • until 2025 including in the SCIE and SSCI editions – if authors look online in WoS or JCR, the quartile displayed according to AIS may not correspond to the national level of the Czech Republic or the quartile for the awarding of results within UWB IS – RIV part.
  • in 2026 across all four editions – SCIE, SSCI, AHCI, ESCI – i.e., it is possible to find it online in the JCR database.

Scientific articles published in journals ranked in the first decile, first quartile, or second quartile of the given field are eligible for reward. Scientific articles are reviewed only once after their publication in OBD according to the UWB IS schedule – RIV part.
Support for the RIV component is described in section V of Rector's Directive No. 03R/2015 CZ (Directive 3R/2015_ENG).

Further information on UWB IS – RIV part is available in the documents below, and for UWB students and employees also here.
