UWB Motivation System – TALENT
Announcement of the 2nd round 2026
The system of support for UWB doctoral study programmes called TALENT 2026, declared by the Vice-Rector for Research, Creative Activities and Doctoral Study, is in accordance with the Implementation Plan of the UWB Strategic Plan 2026+ and Key Area 2 - Creative Activity. Applications for 2nd round support can be submitted by full-time doctoral students.
The deadline for submitting applications is 11 May 2026. An application for support can also be submitted for events that have already taken place in a given calendar year (i.e. from 1 January 2026). The applications are submitted via on-line form (login exclusively via orion-login@office365.zcu.cz). Students can use this support for professional internships, research projects, research activities, or participation in renowned conferences. The deadline for the termination of the TALENT 2026 supported activity is 15 November 2026.

Deadlines for the second round of TALENT 2026:
- 28 April – 11 May 2026 – submission of applications
- by 15 May 2026 – verification and processing by the administrator
- by 25 May 2026 – statement on the application by the respective unit
- by 8 June 2026 – notification of the result

1st Round
The support system for doctoral study programs at UWB, called TALENT 2026, announced by the Vice-Rector for Creative Activities and Doctoral Studies, is in line with the implementation plan of the UWB Strategic Plan 2026+ and Key Area 2 – Creative Activities. Applications for support may be submitted by full-time doctoral students.
The deadline for submitting applications is January 31, 2026. Applications for support may also be submitted for events that have already taken place in the given calendar year (i.e., since January 1, 2026). Applications are submitted via an online form (registration exclusively via orion-login@office365.zcu.cz). Students can use this support for professional internships, research projects, research activities, or participation in renowned conferences. The deadline for the end of activities supported by TALENT 2026 is November 15, 2026.

Evaluation of TALENT 2025 applications – 41 applications were submitted for CZK 1.66 million, with a total of 20 applications supported with CZK 800,000 (21 applications were not supported at all and 1 application was partially supported).
Evaluation of TALENT 2024 applications – 62 applications were submitted for CZK 2.54 million, with a total of 37 applications supported with CZK 1.3 million (25 applications were not supported at all and 16 applications were partially supported).
Evaluation of TALENT 2023 applications – in area 1, 64 applications were submitted for CZK 2.7 million, with a total of 46 applications supported with CZK 1.77 million (18 applications were not supported at all and 14 applications were partially supported); in area 2, 16 applications were submitted for CZK 0.5 million for the arrival of 17 experts, all applications were supported.
Evaluation of TALENT 2022 applications – in area 1, 35 students were supported with CZK 1.2 million; in field 2, the arrival of 12 foreign experts was supported with CZK 302,000.
TALENT – support for students
The TALENT part of the Motivation System supports talented UWB students who participate in research, development, innovation, and other creative activities. Since 2012, 1,468 applications have been supported with a total amount of over CZK 10 million.
Since 2021, this part has not been implemented due to a change in the purpose of the original source of funding.
2020 – CZK 716,000 distributed and 102 students supported (including 3 Bc., 16 NMgr./Mgr., and 119 DSP).
2019 – CZK 1.05 million distributed and 134 students supported (including 3 Bc., 10 NMgr./Mgr., and 121 DSP).
2018 – CZK 1.14 million distributed and 124 students supported (including 10 Bc., 15 NMgr./Mgr., and 99 DSP).
2017 – CZK 1.12 million distributed and 156 students supported (including 8 Bc., 39NMgr./Mgr., and 109 DSP).
2016 – CZK 1.18 million distributed and 181 students supported (including 24 Bc., 51 NMgr./Mgr., and 106 DSP).
2015 – CZK 1.03 million distributed and 143 students supported (including 14 Bc., 82 NMgr./Mgr., and 47 DSP).
2014 – CZK 1.22 million distributed and 182 students supported (including 34 Bc., 38 NMgr./Mgr., and 110 DSP).
