Incentive system
For more than 20 years, UWB has been implementing an incentive system to support creative activities, with the aim of motivating UWB staff and students to intensify their activities in the field of research, development, and innovation, and to promote excellence in R&D at UWB. The support is intended for academic and scientific staff at UWB, doctoral graduates, and students, especially those in follow-up Master's degree programs and doctoral study programs. More detailed information on the UWB Incentive System is available to UWB students and employees here. Since 2021, two parts of the UWB Incentive System have been active – the RIV part and the CONTRACT RESEARCH part.
Specific research
Specific research supports activities related to research conducted by students in accredited doctoral or Master's degree programs which is directly linked to their education.
Creative activities
Creative activity is one of the main activities of the university; it is linked to educational activities and is conducted both in the national and international context, with the involvement of students and in cooperation with industry. Creative activities at UWB cover the entire spectrum, from research to development and application activities in relation to the needs of industry. UWB protects freedom in research, promotes critical thinking, free access to information, and respects democratic and academic values. It covers and links technical, natural science, humanities, social, health, and artistic disciplines, for which it has set its basic priorities. In research and artistic activities, it ranks among the leading Czech universities and is also recognized internationally. The university supports basic and applied research as well as activities directly related to innovation and knowledge transfer. Basic research and, in most cases, applied research do not require immediate results, but rather purposeful, high-quality, and patient research activities. On the contrary, innovation and, in some cases, application projects or contracts, are time-limited. Through its research, development, and innovation activities, the university contributes in particular to the enrichment of publicly accessible knowledge, sustainable development, and solutions to social challenges.
