The project targets the gap between the SAE/I4MS knowledge and expertise developed in the past 7 years and their limited availability to European industry. Some regions are underrepresented in these technologies and structural cooperation with advanced hubs could be strengthened.

The overall goal of the BOWI project is to sustainably increase the deployment of SAE/I4MS technologies. This means the project should be the first step towards creating a broader community for digitalization, where less developed regions are supported by stronger regions to enhance their capacity to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their digital transformation. BOWI will achieve this by leveraging the consortium partners' expertise in SAE/I4MS technologies, as well as the consortium’s in-depth internal knowledge gained through previous projects.

BOWI has identified four objectives to address this issue in a structural and sustainable way:

• Active community for Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) expansion
• Long-term sustainable combined funding accelerator
• Increasing capacity for the deployment of SAE/I4MS technologies
• Demonstrating a replicable approach to cross-border expansion
